China has urged the parties involved in the conflict in the Middle East, particularly the United States and Israel, to halt military operations and warned that the ongoing war could harm global development if it prolongs. China's special envoy for the Middle East did not explicitly name any country but stated that whoever created the problem should resolve it. Meanwhile, the spokesperson for China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, referring to the war in Iran, said that the use of force only leads to an increase in tensions and that the war should not have been started. Lin Jian cautioned that if the conflict further expands and intensifies, the region will be plunged into chaos. This comes as the U.S. President set a 48-hour deadline for Iran to open the Strait of Hormuz on Saturday evening and stated that if the strait is not opened, the United States will target its energy facilities.
